Route - Calicut - Wayanad - Coorg - Neeleshwar - Calicut -Cochin
Day 01 : Arrive Calicut (Kozhikode International airport) - Wayanad
Arrive Calicut. Assistance, garland welcome and straight transfer to Wayanad (about 75 km /02 hrs) with its peculiar and unique geographical position is blessed with mist clad mountains and sylvan valleys. It is situated at a height of 700 to 1200 m from sea level. Take your time to settle down and recover from the jet lag. O/n in Resort.
Day 02 : Wayanad
Morning after breakfast we will do a gentle half day trek to Ambakuthi Hills and visit Eddakal cave, dating back to the Neolithic period 3000 BC and famous for natural rock cut - out formation formed by a large split in a huge rock roofed over by other large rocks, all fixed in position through natural processes. Afternoon visit Sultan Bathery famous for Jain Temple which was captured by Tipu Sultan of Mysore in the 18th century. Sulthan Bathery is situated at about 930 metres above mean sea level. One can find beautiful folded hills across the horizon. Back to Resort. O/n in Resort.
Day 03 : Wayanad - Coorg
Early morning a half hour drive will take you to Muthanga Natural Park, where you could spot Elephant, Leopard, Bison, Bear, Sambhar, Wild Dog, Deer, Peacock and even the elusive Tiger. After breakfast drive to Coorg (about 160 km/05 hrs) nestled in the Western Ghats, situated at 800 meters above sea level and set amidst 300 acres of coffee and spice plantations. Check into a charming plantation resort and take a gentle walk in the coffee plantation and see the local tribals at work. O/n in resort.
Day 04 : Coorg
After breakfast make a short drive to nearby Durbare Elephant Camp, where we will have a couple of hour experience with Elephants consisting of the following activities.
¤ Elephant Grooming: Visitors can watch Elephants been given a scrub-bath in the River and also watch how oil
is applied on their forehead, tusks and other aspects of Elephant grooming.
¤ Elephant feeding: Visitors can watch the food being prepared for the Elephants and how they are fed. They can
even participate by feeding the Elephants themselves - for this, we can give them some sugarcane, coconuts or bananas.
¤ Commands: The Mahouts will then demonstrate the various commands the Elephants can obey. This can be
vividly portrayed by making Elephants perform some mock logging operations.
¤ Naturalist: While visitors are going through all these activities, a Naturalist will explain to them about all
aspects of Elephant ecology, history, conservation etc. The visitor's interaction with Elephants will be as participatory as possible. Further, a leaflet giving interesting information on the same will be given to visitors.
¤ Elephant Ride: Finally, visitors will be taken on a 10 to 15 min Elephant ride into the Dubare Reserve Forest.
Before, they get on to the Elephant they can watch how the Howdahs is actually tied etc.
Later after lunch visit Bylekuppe Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and settlement. The Tibetan Buddhist Monasteries which is the second largest settlement outside Tibet. The Golden Temple has some very impressive 40-foot high golden idols of Buddha. The prayer sessions are a sight to behold too, as more than 400 monks chant in unison. Back to Resort. O/n in resort.
Day 05 : Coorg
Today after breakfast a short drive to Bylekuppe and again full day visit Tibetan Buddhist monasteries and settlement. Evening free to explore market where you can find few Tibetan handicraft shops selling shawls, artifacts and souvenir items. Back to Hotel. O/n in Hotel.
Day 06 : Coorg - Neeleshwar
After breakfast drive to Neeleshwar (about 140 km/ 04 hrs).On arrival welcome drink and check into your 'eco-friendly Ayurveda beach spa'- combines the best of Indian traditions with a contemporary level of comfort and a refined aesthetic sensibility. O/n in Neeleshwar Hermitage. Enjou the great sunsets over Arabian sea and walk the golden beach.
Day 07 : Neeleshwar
Morning Ayurveda massage and yoga session. Visit the nearby fishing village,turtle hatchery farm and local temple. O/n in Neeleshwar Hermitage.
Late afternoon visit local Beedi cigrette making factory where only women are working. Later stroll in the nearby local colorful bazaar of Kanhangad. O/n in Neeleshwar Hermitage.
Day 08 : Neeleshwar
Today visit to Bekal Fort, Built by Ikkeri Naikkanas in the 17th century and it has seen many a war and siege for dominance. The Bekal Fort is the largest fort in Kerala that is located on a hilltop, giving a scenic view of the picturesque countryside. The natural scenery at Bekal is alluring and makes a visit to the place an exhilarating experience. This fort is one of the best preserved forts in Kerala. Bekal fort offers a superb view of the Arabian Sea. Later visit Anand Ashram. Anand ashram is founded by Swami Ramdas in October 1933; and it is dedicated to Universal Love and Service. It contains the sublime teachings of Swami Ramdas, Mother Krishnabai, Swami Satchidananda and other saints. The Ashram serves as a refuge from the spitefulness that has become so widespread in today's world. The sound of devotional songs and spiritual discourses greets the visitors of the Anandashram. Sunset short backwater traditional houseboat cruise with refreshment on board. O/n in Neeleshwar Hermitage.
Day 09 : Neeleshwar - Calicut
After breakfast drive to Calicut (about 160 km/about 5hrs).Afternoon witness Kalaripayattu Martial Arts demonstration. Enroute vist the church, temple and coastal fort in Tellichery. Sunset visit Kapad beach where VascoDa Gama landed in 1498. O/n in Resort.
Day 10 : Calicut - Cochin
Morning drive to Cochin via Guruvayur Elephant Farm and Temple, takes about 5 hrs. Evening kathakali folk dance demonstration. O/n hotel in fort area of Kochi.
Day 11 : Cochin
Visit the Chinese Fishing nets, old Jewish town, museum, church and the spice bazaar.O/N hotel.
Day 12 : Cochin - Europe
transfer to the airport to board your return flight back home.
